Mark Scholz

President & CEO

As CAOEC President & CEO, Mark helps serve the interests of the Canadian drilling and service rig industries by championing their responsible stewardship and long-term sustainability.

Sharing a passion for the oil and gas industry and the benefits it provides to so many Canadians, Mark uses his position to educate and engage government, the public, and all other stakeholders on its importance and impacts from coast to coast to coast.

Mark is also a director of the Energy Safety Canada Board of Directors, the safety association of the upstream oil and gas industry, and a member of its Governance and Compensation Committee. He is an active member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and has completed the Not-for-Profit Governance Essential Program through the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He received his ICD.D designation in September 2024.

Mark holds a degree in economics and a degree in political science from the University of Calgary. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the Haskayne School of Business.

Russell Nibogie

Vice President, Operations

Russell’s career started at Baker Hughes in various engineering roles and transitioned to the operator side as Drilling/Completion Technologist and Drilling Superintendent with companies like Suncor Energy and Cenovus Energy. His work in the oilpatch has led to various stints in Alberta, including Calgary, Grande Prairie, and Edmonton.

Russell holds a Petroleum Engineering Degree from SAIT, and currently calls Cochrane home where he lives with his wife and family.

Charlotte Wilson

Director, Corporate Services

Charlotte started her career as a Controller for a group of bicycle retail stores where she worked for 18 years, before becoming the Vice President of Business Services for a plumbing/HVAC company.

She brings to CAOEC her strong knowledge of
 strategy development and systems integration services, and she takes pride in ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, administrative, and contractual accounting standards.

Outside of work, Charlotte can be found fostering senior dogs and working towards completing her Master of Business Administration with a major in Human Resources.

Pam Butt

Executive Assistant

Pam is the Executive Assistant at CAOEC and provides valuable administrative support to management, staff, and the Board of Directors.

She began her energy career with Dome Petroleum, and then worked in a variety of other sectors including education, wholesale distribution and logistics, legal, engineering, human resources, and community volunteer programs.

Pam has a Secretarial Arts Certificate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), and is always looking forward to her next hiking, camping, or travel adventure.

Lindsay Sinclair

Operations Specialist

Lindsay has worked for an number of companies in the energy sector,  primarily on the service side of the industry, with experience in both operations and marketing for Directional Drilling and Land Drilling contractors.

As the Operations Specialist, Lindsay provides exceptional customer service to members of the Association, and provides Operational support to the various committees within the CAOEC to represent the best interests of the Association and our members.

Lindsay has a Petroleum Land Administration Certificate from Mount Royal University, and enjoys spending time in the mountains hiking, snowboarding, and camping.

An Tran

Communications Specialist

An possesses an extensive background in marketing and communications, with a career highlight being the six years she spent working for an agency in Melbourne, Australia. Upon her return to Calgary, she spent the next few years working as a Career Advisor at SAIT where she supported students and graduates with their job search skills.

An holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Culture from the University of Calgary. She is passionate about issues surrounding equity, diversity, and inclusion, and she is excited to bring that passion into her current work within the Canadian energy industry.
