Mast & Substructure Assembly Guideline (DR)
The purpose of this resource is to provide a template and instruction guide to CAODC drilling member companies that is meant to assist in the development of an assembly instruction manual for the mast and substructure. Upon completion, a company’s mast and substructure assembly manual should provide a systematic approach for rigging up the mast and substructure components necessary to the drilling of an oil and gas well.

CAODC Crown Saver Test Report - Template
The CAODC Crown Saver Test Report template has been developed in response to a significant crown out incident that unfortunately resulted in a fatality. This resource is being provided to help members implement a procedure to test/measure the stopping distance of the blocks at working speed. Refer to Technical Bulletin T-16-02: Crown Out Prevention – Crown Saver Test Report Template for more information.

Service Rig Physical Demands Analysis - Greenhand
In 2013, the Safety & Training (S&T) Committee indicated that the development of a physical demands analysis (PDA) for entry level workers would mitigate the issue of service rig members having to rehabilitate these individuals to a level of work/strength they haven’t yet achieved (e.g. a Greenhand that is injured while still on probation was often not released to full duty status until they were rehabilitated to a heavy duty level). Those discussions led to what I am pleased to announce and share with you today: the CAODC Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for Greenhand workers, an industry endorsed template that can be incorporated into your company’s modified work program, and used as an educational resource when interacting with the various Workers Compensation Boards. To date, it has been member tested in Alberta with favourable results.

The information provided in the attached PDA includes generic tasks typically performed by Greenhands and/or probationary/short term workers on a service rig, and can be tailored by member companies accordingly.
