Drilling Membership
Being a member of the CAOEC has many advantages for both large and small contractors. In most cases, the cost of membership is returned several times over in the form of access to cost saving permits, and various government relations initiatives. Click here to apply.
Below are a few examples of how contractors can take full advantage of a CAOEC membership.
CAOEC/CAPP Master Daywork Contract
Negotiated with CAPP, the Master Daywork Contract is only available to CAOEC Drilling Members. The Master Drilling Contract provides the most equitable split between risk and liability for our members and eliminates a large portion of required legal counsel for repetitive services, permitting both parties to make minor adjustments. As such, risks are discussed ahead of any potential challenges resulting in better communication and customer relations between all parties.
CAOEC Committees
Our Operational committees are the lifeblood of the Association. These committees are comprised of hardworking volunteers from our member companies who help us share and assess valuable information that informs the work we do, and help us move forward as a competitive and healthy industry.
Government Relations
CAOEC helps members effectively work with governments by providing one point of contact. Important technical and industry information is gathered from committee experts and then communicated through the Association to decision makers so they may make informed decisions on policy that impacts member companies. Understanding member perspectives helps ensure regulatory bodies are not imposing unfair, costly, or technically inaccurate processes or policies.
Advocacy
CAOEC is a public advocate for the Canadian drilling and well servicing industry. Currently, the Oil Respect campaign is the Association's advocacy focus. Since February 2016, Oil Respect has been standing up for the Canadian oil and gas industry from coast to coast to coast. Speaking with provincial and federal governments and regular Canadians, Oil Respect addresses the misinformation and half-truths about the industry, giving oil workers and their families a voice, and letting our country know about the value our oil and gas industry brings to Canada.
Stay Informed
CAOEC publishes a monthly e-newsletter, which provides members with the opportunity to advertise and stay up-to-date on industry news and technology.
CAOEC Recommended Practices
CAOEC Recommended Practices foster more efficient and effective operations by standardizing and documenting industry best practices for the benefit of all members.
Publications
From training and competency manuals to log books, members have access to many different CAOEC publications. These publications are purpose-built for Canada’s regulatory environment, and have been drafted, vetted and approved by CAOEC members.
Training and Development
CAOEC works with training providers to ensure members have access to cost effective solutions that meet the specific demands of the drilling industry. Online options, reasonable re-certification periods, and working with invested parties to create best-in-class programs are some of the ways CAOEC helps contribute to the safe and professional development of rig personnel.
Annual General Meeting
Allows members to network, celebrate successes, and welcome the new Board of Directors.
Speaker Series
Speaker Series events provide an opportunity each quarter for members to better understand specific industry topics such as the Master Service Agreements, worksite drug and alcohol policies and regulations, and the WCB legislation.
