CAODC is pleased to see the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMX) proceed.

For Immediate Release: May 30, 2018

The Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors (CAODC) is pleased with the federal and Alberta government’s support for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMX).

Additional pipelines are desperately needed to ensure Canada’s oil and gas industry remains competitive. Although Kinder Morgan Canada (KML) had applied for, and subsequently received federal approval for the project, confidence to move forward became uncertain and KML has now agreed to the federal government’s offer to purchase the pipeline and the expansion project.

Despite these circumstances, CAODC is pleased the project will now be built given its importance in helping stabilize the viability of member businesses and jobs.

“It’s very positive that the federal and Alberta government are backing this much-needed infrastructure for Canada’s oil and gas future,” explains President Mark Scholz. “The Premier of Alberta's resolved determination and her strong leadership in seeing oil resources reach tidewater has no doubt influenced the outcome of this project.”

CAODC will be carefully monitoring the situation and looks forward to the pipeline’s timely completion.

“Regardless of how we arrived here, we are excited to get this pipeline project underway because it means good jobs for Canadian men and women and a positive future for Canadian oil and gas,” concludes Scholz.
